ABOUT THE THEATRE
The Polárka Theatre is a professional children’s theatre based in Brno, established in 1999. The amateur predecessors of the scene were the Puppet Theatre Sokol Brno I company founded in 1930 and later the Jitřenka Theatre. The theatre became fully professional in the 1999/2000 season under the name Polárka Alternative Theatre for Children and Young Adults. Then the theatre was separated into three independent age categories: performances for the youngest pre-school children and the first primary school grades, performances for children and performances for young adults and adult audiences. The cooperation with young theatre authors, mostly with art university graduates, sticks out as completely unique. The use of incidental music is a distinct feature of the Polárka productions.
